Primark mix tough denim and vintage florals

This spring it’s all about flowers, flowers and more flowers, as I’m sure you can tell. If you’re scared of looking a bit like your Nan’s sofa, the best thing to do is add a modern twist with some tough leather or denim, á la Christopher Kane’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. Anything distressed or faded will give it a vintage feel.

My favourites this week include this pretty jumper dress, at £11, and frayed denim waistcoat, at £10. Worn together you’ll look edgy, expensive and exactly like a catwalk model. Well, maybe not exactly, but you’ll be on your way.

Finish it off with some military boots or loafer style pumps, depending on your style.

Flowers + Denim + Leather = Cool. There you have it, fashion maths made easy.

Fringed eyelash crop top at Primark

If I ever hear someone moaning about Primark being crap, I’m going to show them this. Wandering around Primark at the weekend (yes, I do that a lot), I found this gorgeous peach crop top with funky eyelash detail, that wouldn’t look out of place in Topshop.

The picture doesn’t do it great justice, but this is because of the baggy style. It is designed to hang loose on the shoulders and look effortless. Even better, its only £5! Brave people should wear it over just leggings, the less brave should try it over a plain skirt. Finish it off with a pair of polka dot tights and some ballet bumps; Primark have some great real leather pairs at around £10.

A word of warning: expect a lot of chest attention when wearing this – someone even asked me if I was wearing nipple tassels.

Floral bandage skirts at Primark

Want to update your wardrobe for less than lunch? Then this may help you along the way. Primark have now got a selection of cheap-as-chips skirts which will add a dash of summer to your winter clothes. The featured beauty is only £4! Shouldn’t be legal, right?

The tropical print not only looks modern, but hides a multitude of sins as the busy print will shade any wobbly bits. The bandage style also holds you in and smooths you down at the same time. What more could you want?

Wear It with something loose-fitting on top, like their plain hanky-hem t-shirts, which are only £3.

Glitter knitwear at Primark

Happy Sunday everyone! And here is my outfit for the day, courtesy of Primark.

Last week I picked up this glittering silver jumper for £11, and this black jersey skirt for just £2. The bagginess of the jumper contrasts perfectly with the tight skirt, so you don’t end up looking like a giant pom-pom. Accessorise it minimally with a bangle or two and some delicate pumps. The sabbath need never be boring again!

Apologies for the flash, but it’s the only way the glitter on the jumper really shows up. Click on the image for a zoomed-in look.

Celebrity style: Alexa Chung & Alex Turner

Showbiz couple Alexa Chung and Alex Turner are so perfectly matched, it’s almost unbearable. Luckily for them, they dress so well that it doesn’t make me sick. Since the TV presenter and Arctic Monkeys’ front man hooked up, the paparazzi can’t keep their lenses off them. They’re constantly under fashion watch, which is why I have decided to recreate their looks – Primarni style.

The best thing about their look is that it is extremely simple: it’s all about layering up neutral colours and  basic shapes in a 1960′s style. Primark’s versatile mens and womenswear collections made this an easy challenge for me.

For Alexa I found this grey pleated skirt, £11; peach chiffon blouse, £8; the navy boyfriend blazer, £10 on sale; wicker bag, £6;  ribbon necklace, £3; and the golden charm necklace, for £2. I also paired it with a pair of back loafer style pumps for £8, which are pictured separately. Not too far off Alexa’s original look don’t you think? The bag is my favourite item as it’ll match with pretty much anything – you won’t regret buying it.

For Alex’s look I went down the casual route, but kept to the same colours. I went for a white polo top, £4; a grey jersey cardigan, £6; black straight leg jeans, £6; and charcoal grey plimsolls for only £5. To add some quirk roll up the sleeves like Alexa’s blazer and turn up the jean hems.

(Tip: Click on the pictures to make them bigger and get a better look at the outfits.)

So you and your man can look retro-cool for just £70. Unfortunately I cannot provide their beautiful faces or dream jobs; you’ll have to sort that out yourself.

Also, please remember, fashion isn’t about copying the styles of others, it’s about taking ideas and making them your own.

I know this happened a while ago, but here is a clip filmed from the inside on the opening day of the Oxford Street Primark. A shocker to say the least.

Primark owner Associated British Foods has predicted profits for the company will continue to rise over the first half of the financial year.

Christmas sales exceeded expectation, and plans to expand throughout the UK are officially going ahead. New stores are said  to be opening in Chester, Bury and Blackburn. Good news for those who are currently suffering without a Primark on their high street!

ABF have recently bought out 10 former BHS properties, which have been turned into Primark outlets, in Folkestone, Guildford, Harrogate, Winchester, Bournemouth, Perth, Worcester, Ilford, King’s Lynn and Scunthorpe. These are all set to open in the next financial year.

Sexy sillouhette prints at Primark

I’ve found something I know you’re all going to love and has launched Primark to new fashion heights.

Having a wonder round my local Primark yesterday I found this gorgeous grey and black silhouette print top, with tassel detail along the bust and a bow tie on the back. Anyone want to guess the price? Well you never will. This gorgeous garment is in fact… only £6! Never has the word bargain been more appropriate.

It looks just like the styles recently created by Oasis for their Trompe L’Oeil range, meaning ‘to trick the eye’, and that’s exactly what this top does. The print created an illusion of  tiny waist, whilst the fringe detail draws your eye up and away from any lumps or bumps elsewhere.

Here I’ve accessorised it with a big bow neck scarf, further playing with the proportions of the body. Mine’s from a charity shop, but you can find some great ones in Primarni, with prices starting from £1.

Can’t wait to wear this when the sun is shining, accompanied only by a handbag, some sandals and sunnies.

Mens retro t-shirts at Primark

Hello boys! I often step in the menswear section of Primark, so I thought I’d update you with what’s new.

They’ve just introduced  retro branded t-shirts into the range, with these mickey mouse and pepsi-cola tops for only £6 - extremely low effort for the less metrosexual men amongst you.

Male Primark shoppers are a lot luckier than their female counterparts, as a lot of the mens range is cheaper. Pair a top of your choice with a pair of their skinny jeans, which start at £6; a pair of their plimsolls, from £5; and finish it off with a pair of sleek sunglasses, from £1.

For added edge roll back the sleeves once or twice and try turning up the jeans too.

A whole outfit for £18? Now don’t say I don’t treat you good.

Brazilian fit knickers anyone?

Brazillian Fit KnickersPrimark’s extensive underwear selection is legendary amongst high street shoppers, especially the loved and hated knicker tables. Whilst having a quick browse today I spotted something new, very new.

Now, I’ve never heard of them, but apparently ‘brazilian fit’ knickers are big news in the underwear world. I can’t tell the difference between them and a normal pair of patnies just by looking at them, but the Primark versions come in cute patterns and are only £1.50 a pair.

So who cares what country they’re from, they sure look comfortable. Now we just have to wait for the arrival of ‘British fit’ brief. I can just picture them now…
